Looking for a quick Steak meal with great flavor and budget friendly, look no further. Flank Steak with Tomato Basil Relish delivers dinner in no time. Serve it along side your favorite side dishes and no one will know it was done in less than 30 minutes.

Flank Steak also known as London Broil is versatile in what you choose to make with it. It can be used in recipes ranging from Fajitas, Stir Fry dishes to Stews or enjoyed alone. When prepared carefully, it provides a tender morsel in every bite. Keep in mind, the grain of Flank Steak is very long and can also provide a tougher cut which is important to understand. I will repeat again, if not prepared carefully, it will yield a very tough piece of meat. It is best cooked on hight heat with a quick cooking time and served ideally at medium rare. I am more of a medium kinda gal so even at this point it is still quite delicious.

Flank Steak with Tomato Basil Relish was one of those recipes that simply cleared out my random vegetables and herbs that needed used up. Always my favorite recipes since I never always know the outcome in flavors. The Relish was bright, light and full of herbs that paired beautifully with a good seared Flank Steak. I served this along side my Rice and Beans and it was heaven in the making. Enough of me talking about my experience with cooking this meal, let’s get to talking about how yours came out.

Instructions

Flank Steak Preparation

  • Place Flank Steak into a Large Zip Lock Bag or Mixing Bowl. The Flank Steak may be cut into smaller sections if it is a rather long piece.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of Garlic Herb Seasoning, Onion Powder, Cumin, Thyme and a couple of generous pinches of Salt & Black Pepper as well as a few drizzles of Olive Oil.
  • Seal the bag or if using a Mixing Bowl, proceed to next step.
  • Using your hands, massage the ingredients into the Flank Steak being sure to coat both sides. Set aside to marinate for 30 minutes. This may be done the night before and placed in refrigerator overnight to allow flavors to infuse into the meat.

Tomato Basil Relish

  • Place all remaining produce ingredients, Garlic Herb Seasoning, pinch of Salt & Pepper and a drizzle of Olive Oil into a mixing bowl and give a good stir. Taste to see if additional seasoning is needed. Cover bowl with lid or wrap and place in refrigerator until ready to use.

Pan Searing Flank Steak

  • Heat Cast Iron Skillet on Medium/High giving it a drizzle of Olive Oil.
  • Slowly add Flank Steak and sear them for 4-5 minutes on each side or until your desired doneness. Remove from heat and set aside allowing to rest for 5-7 minutes before slicing them. Keep in mind that the residual heat will continue to cook them so do not overcook them in the Skillet as the meat will get tough.

Serving

  • Slice Flank Steak against the grain and place on platter with the Tomato Basil Relish over top and a few Basil Leaves along side for garnish. Serve along side your favorite side dishes and enjoy!!!
