Flank Steak Preparation
Place Flank Steak into a Large Zip Lock Bag or Mixing Bowl. The Flank Steak may be cut into smaller sections if it is a rather long piece.
Add 1 tablespoon of Garlic Herb Seasoning, Onion Powder, Cumin, Thyme and a couple of generous pinches of Salt & Black Pepper as well as a few drizzles of Olive Oil.
Seal the bag or if using a Mixing Bowl, proceed to next step.
Using your hands, massage the ingredients into the Flank Steak being sure to coat both sides. Set aside to marinate for 30 minutes. This may be done the night before and placed in refrigerator overnight to allow flavors to infuse into the meat.
Tomato Basil Relish
Place all remaining produce ingredients, Garlic Herb Seasoning, pinch of Salt & Pepper and a drizzle of Olive Oil into a mixing bowl and give a good stir. Taste to see if additional seasoning is needed. Cover bowl with lid or wrap and place in refrigerator until ready to use.
Pan Searing Flank Steak
Heat Cast Iron Skillet on Medium/High giving it a drizzle of Olive Oil.
Slowly add Flank Steak and sear them for 4-5 minutes on each side or until your desired doneness. Remove from heat and set aside allowing to rest for 5-7 minutes before slicing them. Keep in mind that the residual heat will continue to cook them so do not overcook them in the Skillet as the meat will get tough.
