Looking for something simple, delicious and hearty, this recipe is for you. Picadillo con Papas delivers Latin flavors to the palate and Potatoes to the soul. A blend of Ground Beef, sliced Potatoes, Peppers, Onions, Garlic and melted Cheese makes this a quick and easy way to have dinner on the table in no time.

Traditional Picadillo combines aromatic spices with the addition of tomato sauce. There are many variations in the recipe and it depends on who is making it. My version of Picadillo con Papas is anything but traditional. I wasn’t looking for a tomato base version so it was omitted. Providing Latin flavors was important to me so my Sofrito was a key ingredient. Sofrito is a sauce consisting of Onions, Garlic, Peppers, Cilantro, Culantro and herbs that is blended in a food processor. I use it to flavor meats, stews, rice and many other dishes around the world. Potatoes are commonly found in most households and a perfect compliment to Picadillo. With the addition of Peppers, Onions & Garlic, it all comes together in one skillet and finished off in the oven. Topped off with melted Cheese, I mean who doesn’t love cheese.

This recipe was derived simply due to using what I had on hand at the moment. The flavors are versatile and can be manipulated to what you have a taste for. I am always looking for ways to change up a recipe to make it my own. This is a perfect opportunity for you to make it yours. You’ll never know the hype of Picadillo con Papas until you give it a try.
