Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon is one of my favorite go to’s when looking for a quick fix in my Seafood World. I fell in love with this by accident when I decided to venture into my local supermarket and seen it already marinated and ready to go in the seafood deli. While I have created variations of Salmon topped off with a fresh Mango or Pineapple Salsa to cream sauces, I never thought of trying a Brown Sugar Glaze. Might I say…it was delicious, impressive and now has become my new favorite way to enjoy Salmon.

The key to a great tasting Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon is the process of marinating. I say this because through trial and error, I could never get my Salmon to infuse the smokey sweet taste that I initially fell in love with. I’ve tried it all from just cooking it into the glaze, pouring it over the salmon, baking it all together, it just didn’t have that deep flavor I wanted. Last try on it and viola… marinating it was the answer. While I understand the process of cooking with soul, cooking slow & cooking with love, this one had to be something different. The Salmon didn’t need me to make it perfect, it simply needed the love of a marinade to get in there and create its own magic. Infusing a Sweet Smokey flavor that compliments any side dish perfectly or if you are like me.. I can absolutely enjoy it on its own!

While it is pretty simple to make, it delivers a complex but beautiful flavor to Salmon that even a non seafood lover will like. Try this recipe for Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon and let’s talk about it.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl or Gallon Size Freezer Bag
  • Baking Pan

Ingredients

Seafood

  • 4 Skinless Salmon Filets 4-5 oz.

Seasonings

  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika

Condiments

  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Honey

Instructions

  • Place Salmon and all the listed ingredients into a Mixing Bowl or Large Freezer Bag. Using your hands, massage ingredients into the Salmon to create a marinade. Let it sit and marinade for a minimum of 30 minutes. For optimized flavor, you may prepare the day before and place in refrigerator overnight. The longer it marinates, the better the flavor.

Baking Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Line Baking Pan with Aluminum Foil
  • Place Marinated Salmon spaced apart on foil and drizzle additional glaze over the top
  • Using another piece of foil, create a tent over pan to allow steam to remain inside while baking as this will keep Salmon moist.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until desired doneness. You may raise temperature to broil for last minute to create crisp edges (Optional). Keep in mind that the sauce will stick to foil which may or may not impact removing the Salmon Filets.
  • Serve with some Steamed Rice and Roasted Asparagus and enjoy!
