My wonderful world of Old Bay. Old Bay Lobster & Shrimp Pasta was solely created in my kitchen due to a mishap in a previous Seafood Pasta Recipe I created. I totally forgot to add my Lobster Tails to that dish. So here I am with Lobster Tails that needed to be cooked immediately.

While my previous Seafood Pasta was a focus using a Tomato based Sauce, this one is a focus on a Spicy Cream Sauce with an added favorite seasoning.. Old Bay! Anyone who has dabbled with Old Bay knows that it is absolutely delicious on anything from Chicken, Pork, Steak to Seafood. There are several versions of Old Bay from Blackened, Garlic & Herb, Lemon & Herb to traditional. Adding it to a cream sauce gives it the perfect spice and great flavor that it didn’t surprise me at all that this dish was amazing. While you can’t go wrong with any of these flavor profiles Old Bay offers, I kept it traditional for this recipe.

Even though my Tails didn’t lack much in meat, I added a few Shrimp to the mix to give it another juicy morsel to indulge in. Shrimp never fails in deliverance of flavor simply because they pair well when introduced into any dish. Old Bay Lobster & Shrimp Pasta delivers a well balanced Spicy & Creamy dish that while it is simple in ingredients, the flavor is anything but.

This recipe pairs well with a great date night, classic movie and a nice glass of chilled Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc.

Instructions

Lobster Tail Preparation

  • Preheat Oven to 425°
  • Using a clean pair of kitchen scissors, in a straight line, cut down the middle of each Lobster Tail almost towards the end of the tail. Using your fingers, gently loosen the meat from inside of the shell and lift out of it. Press both sides of the shell together and lay the meat over the seam. When all four Lobster tails are done, season with a generous pinch of the Old Bay Seasoning & Garlic Herb Seasoning. Place on Baking Sheet with 1 tsp of softened butter on top. Bake for 12-15 minutes until Lobster Tails are fully cooked but not rubbery.

Pasta.. Meanwhile

  • Bring a Pot of water to a rapid boil, being sure to salt generously.
  • Add Pasta and cook according to package.
  • Drain Pasta.

Old Bay Shrimp and Cream Sauce

  • Heat deep Pan on Medium/High heat adding 1 pat of Butter and a drizzle of Olive Oil.
  • Add sliced Onion and begin sautéing 4-5 minutues until Onions soften and become translucent.
  • Add minced Garlic and continue sautéing for additional 1-2 minutes stirring consistently to not allow Garlic to burn.
  • You will then proceed to add your cleaned Shrimp into Pan, 1 tablespoon of Old Bay, sauté Shrimp with Onions and Garlic for 2-3 minutes on each side. Once they are pink and cooked through, remove and set aside on plate.
  • Add Heavy Cream, 3 tablespoons of Butter, remaining Garlic Herb Seasoning, a pinch of Salt & Pepper and Grated Parmesan Cheese directly into same pan. Lower cooking temperature to Medium and continue stirring Cream Mixture until Cheese Melts and begins to thicken. At this point, you will need to taste to determine how much more Old Bay Seasoning you will want to add. Once you have added the addtional seasonings, add the Fresh Spinach into mixture stirring consistently as it continues to thicken. The spinach will wilt into sauce pretty quick as it is stirred in.
  • Depending on how much sauce you have, you may remove 1 cup of sauce and set aside. Add your Shrimp and Pasta into sauce and carefully toss until all is coated.
  • Plate your Shrimp and Pasta on dish. Carefully place cooked Lobster Tail on top and pour reserved sauce over it. Garnish with fresh Chopped Parsley and enjoy.
