Flat Iron Steak holds up its name against any fine cut of Steak without the hefty price tag. It also carries a name of Top Blade Steak commonly found in grocery stores. It carries a bold beefy flavor and generous portion of marbling contributes to its juicy meaty nature. Sautéing the Cabbage to tender slivers smothered in a cream sauce filled with mild sweetness of Sun -Dried Tomatoes and everything that makes your mouth go mmm. Sun-dried Tomato Creamed Cabbage & Steak Bites
Equipment
- Large Skillet
- Baking Dish
- Cutting Board
- Sharp Knife

Ingredients
Protein
- 2 lbs Flat Iron Steak May substitute for your favorite cut. Sliced thinly.
Produce
- 1 Head of Cabbage Sliced into 1.5 inch strips.
- 2 Yellow Onions Sliced.
- 1 pkg Bella Mushrooms Sliced.
- 3 tbsp Garlic Minced.
Pantry
- 7 oz Sun Dried Tomatoes in Oil.
- 2 tbsp Mushroom Soy Sauce
Dairy
- 1 pint Heavy Cream
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 3 oz Caramelized Onion & Herb Boursin Cheese
- 3 oz Chive Cream Cheese
Seasonings
- 1 tbsp Garlic & Herb Seasoning No Salt
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tbsp Cumin
- Salt
- Black Pepper
Oil
- Olive Oil
Instructions
Steak Preparation
- Place sliced Steak, Garlic Herb Seasoning, Onion Powder, Cumin and a few generous pinches of Salt & Pepper to your preference in a bowl. Drizzle a little Olive Oil over top. Using your hand, massage all the ingredients into to meat being sure to coat thoroughly. Set aside to marinade while preparing Cabbage.
Cabbage
- Preheat Oven to 350℉.
- Heat large Skillet on Medium/High. Add Butter and a generous drizzle of Olive Oil.
- Once Butter melts, add sliced Cabbage & 1/2 of sliced Onions and begin sautéing 10-15 minutes or until it begins to soften and brown around edges. Add a generous amount of Salt & Pepper to season stirring periodically. Remove from Skillet and place into a casserole dish.
- In the same Skillet, add a drizzle of Olive Oil and Minced Garlic. Stir consistently for 2-3 minutes or until the Garlic becomes fragrant. Add the Heavy Cream, Boursin & Cream Cheese, Sun dried Tomatoes and a generous pinch of Salt & Pepper to the Skillet. Bring up to a simmer being sure to stir consistently for 2-5 minutes or until all melts together and cream thickens up. Taste to see if additional seasonings are needed.
- Pour Cream Sauce over Cabbage in casserole dish. Light mix in Cream sauce into Cabbage.
- Place in oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until to top is bubbly and lightly browned. Remove from over and set aside until ready to serve. Baking time will vary depending on how much cabbage and oven.
Steak Bites
- Heat Skillet on Medium/High drizzling Olive Oil to coat pan.
- Add remaining Onions & Mushrooms and sauté for 3-5 minutes or until they begin to caramelize and soften.
- Add Steak & Soy Sauce to pan with Onions & Mushrooms and sear for additional 5-7 minutes or until desired doneness. Remove and set aside to rest until serving. Taste to see if additional seasonings are needed.
Serve
- Serve the Steak Bites with a generous portion of Creamed Cabbage and enjoy!
